The Regional Nature Reserve Lecceta, with a height of 115 meters above sea level, stretches from the Hill of the British War Cemetery to the mouth of the Sangro River. It is one of the rare deciduous forests of the Adriatic coast with high natural scenic and scientific values, because it wasn’t subjected to the reforestation of non-native species of other coastal areas.
The symbol of the reserve is the terrestrial tortoise (Testudo hermanni), the only living population in the wild, however it also houses 465 plant species (including very rare orchids), 232 species of butterflies and lepidopterans and 60 species of birds.
